BMG was founded in 2007 with a simple vision: to recognize the physician’s role by placing him (or her) at the very core of the business value chain. After nearly two decades of health group management, I recognized a fundamental gap in the way the business of health care is done in the United States: doctors play a smaller role than they should – or worse, are altogether absent – when it comes to the biggest business decisions affecting our industry. The health care system cannot thrive without physicians at the helm in partnership with business leaders. That’s why I started the Blackmaple Group.
We started as a consulting firm, bringing top-level business expertise to the table in independent physician groups as a co-equal to the clinical side. We work with CEOs, board members, and Chief Medical Officers in some of the most prestigious provider groups in the country. And, in 2013, we started a purchasing business at the request of two of our clients – it’s proven hugely popular, and is now the largest Medline industries customer in the sector.
We believe doctors are at the core of the value proposition, and deserve to be at the core of the business. We believe that by combining clinical expertise with top-level business expertise we can create huge value and drive down costs. We believe in the power of volume, and what our network of over 13,000 providers buying as one can do.
